VISION

The David N. Dinkins School seeks to build leaders who are well-rounded and apply critical thinking and problem- solving skills to solve community issues leading scholars to become change agents in our ever-evolving global society.

“WE BUILD LEADERS WHO MAKE CHANGE.”

Core Values: Responsibility, Respect, Caring & Citizenship

MISSION

At the David N. Dinkins School, we believe every scholar deserves a learning experience that is rigorous, meaningful, and deeply personal. Our mission is to create multiple pathways for scholars to engage in standards-aligned tasks that challenge their thinking and nurture their growth—academically, socially, and emotionally.

We embed Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into every aspect of instruction, fostering resilience, empathy, and self-awareness. Through critical thinking and problem-solving across all subject areas, we prepare our scholars to thrive in college, careers, and life.

Our dedicated staff embraces research-based practices and works collaboratively with families, administrators, and community partners to ensure every scholar feels safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

AVID Purpose Statement

When implemented effectively on our campus, AVID will build educator’s capacity to create organizational and collaborative learning that includes focused note taking and deepening the learning of others through inquiry and active engagement using Socratic Seminar. Scholars inclusive of SWIs and ELLs in AVID classrooms will demonstrate increased agency in an effort to close the opportunity gap, ensure college, and career readiness in our ever-changing society.
